Money raised form a satirical news and current affairs show was donated to two charities last weekend.

The ’IM1...Live’ comedy show, which took place in February, early this year, raised more than £1,500, which was donated by the cast to the two chosen charities, the Peel Centenary Centre, represented by Dave Mclean, and the Peel Lifeboat, represented by Stuart Blackley.

The live show featured Manx Radio personalities and presenters Howard Caine, Chris Williams, Euan Gawne, Rhian Evans and Beth Espey, along with the BBC’s Al Bell and was a light-hearted and satirical look at politics, news reporting and every day life in the Isle of Man.

Nothing was spared from the self-deprecating ribbing, least of all Manx Radio themselves, with both the presenters and the output mercilessly mocked and lampooned.

Howard Caine, who was also an original member of the team behind an earlier satirical show, ’The Headlines Again’, said they had tremendous fun doing the ’IM1...Live’ show, and they hope to put on another show at the Peel Centenary Centre later this year.

’It was a good laugh doing the first show, and we were all quite surprised at how many people turned up on the night,’ said Howard.

’So it only seems right to do another show, possibly around September time this year.

’I don’t know what we’d write about though. Nothing much has happened this year that we’re aware of.’
