The Gaiety Theatre witnessed a celebration of talented Manx singers, actors, dancers and comedians with the Extravaganza of Mann.
Organised by the local firm SCS as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the evening was opened by the Ballacottier School Choir, who sang the national anthem, and was followed by a medley of Bee Gees songs, performed by Jonathan Eio, Jack Divers and Alex Maxwell.
Other musical numbers included ’Beneath You Are Beautiful’, by Coral Amphlett, an energetic performance of ’Footloose’ by David Artus, music from the Lion King soundtrack, sung by the Manx Voices choir, and a lively version of the Queen song ’We Will Rock You’ by Mike Bonner.
The show was hosted by Paul Moulton and Alexandra Slater, who sang a number of stunning numbers, including a medley of the songs from the Greatest Showman, which she led, accompanied by the rest of the cast.
There was also space for a number of comedy sketches, including the hilarious version of ’Let’s Do It’, performed by Geoff Corkish and Dot Tilbury, and a reprise of the award-winning stand-up comedy routine by Graham Crowe, which won the new Guild comedy category.
There were also performances by ballroom champions Scott Horne and Claudia Lewthwaite, the Unity dance group, a folk routine performed by John Kilgallon and from the Manx Academy of Dance. The evening raised funds for Rebecca House.
