A local charity is planning to bring the curtain down of one of its showcase fund raising concerts with a final night featuring some of the best acts they have had on stage.
The organisers of the Next Big Thing Talent show are to end the annual youth talent show next year and are appealing to any former finalists to put their names forward for one last show.
The show is organised by the charity Junior Achievement, who have held the held the search to find the best young talent the island has to offer for the past eight years, and have featured hundreds of performers aged between 10 to 18 years old.
A thorough audition processes would result in 10 acts going through to a grand final at the Gaiety Theatre.
However, they have decided that the 2021 show will be the last and have decided to feature as many former finalists as they can.
The organisers are encouraging any act who appeared at the Gaiety Theatre to put themselves forward and enter for the final show, which will lead to the 10 best acts through the shows’ history to take part in the grand ’final finale’, in February 2021.
The first winners were the dance group Asteria, with other winners including local singing star Mae Challis in 2014, Amy Gravestock, violinist Tabitha Templar and magician Giles Beaumont.
’The focus of The Next Big Thing has always been the acts and helping them to develop their confidence to perform live on the Gaiety Theatre stage,’ said Junior Achievement chief executive Sue Cook.
’It’s been an amazing journey for all of us at Junior Achievement and, of course, for the artists, with many past finalists going on to bigger and better things.
’I’m really looking forward to the Champions’ Show and reuniting with so many young artists who have made The Next Thing such a brilliant community event.
’This is a farewell show that’s going to be an unforgettable fantastic family night out.’
