A juvenile has appeared in court accused of brandishing a knife on New Year’s Eve.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, assault, and possessing a bladed article in public, namely a Swiss Army knife.

The 16-year-old is accused of brandishing the knife and threatening to stab a male in the neck during an altercation outside the Spar store in Castle Mona, Douglas.

It is alleged that he had to be restrained by police using Pava spray during the incident.

He will appear at the juvenile court on a date to be set.
