Over the last few weeks we’ve all had our share of upheaval.
But there is one welcome change in the air as the Manx spring fizzes into life: trees are exploding into blossom and daffodils line the roadsides. Before long, carpets of bluebells will cover the hillsides.
Just as the island comes out of hibernation, we are being instructed to stay at home.
But we are all permitted one form of exercise each day, so step away from your screens and take some air.
This situation might stretch on for weeks or months and everyone must take care of their own mental health, fitness and wellbeing.
As the Examiner went to press the island’s hills, glens and parks were open for recreational purposes.
When outdoors it is absolutely paramount to respect the social distancing requirements. Stay at least two metres apart from anyone that you don’t live with. If your chosen location seems too busy, go somewhere else.
The police are checking whether your car journey is absolutely necessary, so try and stay close to home. But there is no need to go far; the joys of spring are happening all around us.
If everyone respects the rules we can all keep enjoying the comforting, predictable rhythm of the seasons in these turbulent times.
