The Family Library is an important social and literary resource for schools, adults and the wider community, based at Westmoreland Road, Douglas.
Mythical Beasts will be alive and well at the Family Library this Saturday (May 29).
We would love to see as many of you as possible between 10.30am and 3pm when our expert face painters will be on hand to create your favourite mythical designs, from unicorns and dragons to mermaids and leprechauns.
It will also be the first chance to hear a reading of a new book launched this week.
Pink: ’The Adventures of a Manx Fairy’ is full of sparkle, fairies and a unicorn and follows the adventures of Anais and a beautiful pink fairy called Jasmine.
It has been written by retired teacher Robert Cowley and beautifully illustrated by teenager Karmen St John-Cain.
Rob will be at the library on Saturday to chat about the new book which is now on sale with proceeds donated to the Breast Cancer Now charity.
Developed into a bedtime story designed to promote happy dreams, it is now available from local bookshops, as well as online at Bunch Collective Publications, and we can’t wait to hear all about what could be the first in a series of Manx story books.
We look forward to a fun-filled Saturday morning and seeing as many people as possible.
Finally, just a quick congratulations to pupils at Anagh Coar, Henry Bloom Noble Manor Park and Ballasalla primary schools for taking part in the recent RAF Primary Space Challenge.
We were proud to team up with the RAF and the Smallpeice Trust for the initiative and the enjoyment children in years four to six experienced was clear for all to see as they took on role of aerospace engineers to design and build a rocket for launching a satellite into space.
The sky truly is the limit.
