Arbory Commissioners will be holding their garden competition again this summer.

Although judging does not take place until July, now is the time so start planning.

Parishioners are invited to start work now - sprucing up hanging baskets, trimming hedges and tending pot plants.

Residents did not have to enter the competition.

The judges check all gardens that fit the criteria automatically.

Gardens that can be seen from a main road or estate roadway are judged.

Criteria for judging is form, planting variety and combinations, colour, and maintenance.

Judges will be looking for the ’Best Front Garden in Colby’ and the ’Best Front Garden in Ballabeg’.

Winners receive a trophy and garden vouchers up to a value of £50.

Winners from 2017 will be the among the judges this year - Phil and Gill Smith from Colby and Carole Bridson from Ballabeg - along with Bill Galley.
