Gas prices have risen by 43.9% as of yesterday (September 1), to 22.21p/unit.

The last jump was in April, of 58% to 15.4p.

Manx Gas said that the latest rise was unavoidable, caused by the rising price of gas in international commodity markets as a result of disruption by Russia.

It stressed that it is not profiting from the increase, which will leave the average Manx household with a yearly bill of £2,000.
