Gritters were busy this week when the Isle of Man was hit by cold weather.
There was ice, frost, sleet and even some snow.
Gritting began at 10pm on Tuesday evening on the Mountain Road, Laxey Coast Road, and the stretch running from Cronk-y-Voddy through Laurel Bank to Ballig.
A second crew was dispatched to treat sections including Richmond Hill, Santon, Fairy Bridge, Ballasalla, Isle of Man Airport, Ballamodha, Foxdale and Cooil Road.These areas were completed at around 3.20am.
All high level routes were treated on Wednesday, during daylight hours: Mountain Road, Laxey Coast Road, Beinn-y-Phott, Sulby Glen Road, Sloc?Roundtable.
The Department of Infrastructure’s control Room at Ellerslie, which is staffed from 7.30pm Monday to Friday, took a number of requests for roads to be gritted on Wednesday morning, including: Glen Darragh to St Mark’s, Richmond Hill, Old Castletown Road, Quarterbridge to Ballasalla (New Castletown Road), Mount Murray estate, Braaid to Peel, Vicarage Road, Circus Beach, Millennium Bridge, Royal Avenue and Falkland Road in Onchan, The route to the incinerator, the Clannagh Road and Stoney Mountain Road.
