Around 9,000 people once again flocked into the Sunset City to celebrate Peel Day.
The festival went ahead last year, though without the TT, so this time it was inevitably busier, being held on ‘Mad Sunday’.
Among the entertainment was one of the last ever shows from the famous motorcycle stunt team, the purple helmets, with them now retiring.
There were also performances from trials and stunt rider Steve Colley and skateboarders from The Shred House.
And there was an exhibition of 50 bikes from the Vintage Motorcycle Club.
Food stalls, and those from organisations like Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch, stretched from along the Quay to the promenade, with live music playing from Spit Corner. There was also live music at the newly-established Black Dog Pizza Oven on East Quay.
Most families were on the beach, with the kids enjoying the bouncy castles that were set up there.
Town clerk Derek Sewell said that it was the most motorcycles he had ever seen visit the town, and comparable to the busiest Peel Day he had ever worked, which was in 2016.
Typically, the busiest Peel Days are those which see sunny weather and no racing, as was the case this year.
Having spoken to local traders such as the pubs, ice cream shops and fish and chip shops, Mr Sewell heard it was an ‘exceptional day’ for them with staff being ‘exhausted’ after it.
