Lovers of keyboard music have a treat in store this weekend when two top pianists visit the island to perform in Douglas and Port Erin.

Scott Brothers Jonathan and Tom, both graduates of Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, will be performing at the Erin Arts Centre on Saturday (June 24).

The pair will be using both the centre’s Steinway piano and its continuo organ, performing music for four hands and there will be an accompanying live screening of Tom’s animations for Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite.

The following day, Sunday, will see Jonathan performing solo in an organ concert at St Matthew’s Church on North Quay in Douglas, where he will be playing works by Elgar, Vivaldi and Mozart as well as his own version of the finale of Saint-Saens’ organ symphony.

This performance is free but it ends with refreshments and a retiring collection. The concert is promoted by the Isle of Man Organists’ Association.

Jonathan is also a tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music, and well-known as one of the UK’s virtuoso organists, and pianists, appearing with the BBC Philharmonic and Halle Orchestras, and for performing a series of solo recitals at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.

Tom is a virtuoso pianist, composer, illustrator and animator with a considerable following on YouTube. He has won numerous awards, and is a tutor in piano at Manchester University. He has performed throughout the UK and Europe and his playing has featured on TV and radio.

Saturday’s performance in Port Erin starts at 8pm, contact the Erin Arts Centre for details and tickets; Sunday’s performance at St Matthew’s Church starts at 3pm, no advance tickets required.
