Traders in Castletown will have to wait until the end of September to find out if the entire Market Square will be open for parking once again.
On Monday the town’s commissioners chose to reinstate four spaces by Barclays Bank until the end of this month. But they haven’t agreed a layout for the winter period.
The artificial turf will be left at the square but some features, such as the hanging baskets, have been removed after the summer.
It comes after a compromise over the local authority’s plans to pedestrianise the whole square.
In April, the board agreed to meet traders ’halfway’ by leaving 50% of the parking available by the George Hotel.
Businesses including JAC Stores, Radcliffe’s the Butchers, and the Gaslight Gift Shop, have asked that all spaces be reintroduced in the colder months.
The order for the partial closure of the square expires on September 30, by which time the commissioners will have met again to discuss the issue.
