Following the success of Easter’s Rush Hour on the Railways, Isle of Man Transport will run a second virtual festival.
Over the Easter weekend, volunteer supporters of the steam railway, MER and Crogga Valley Railway, held a virtual festival due to the railways being closed that attracted more than 250,000 views worldwide.
The next big event on the island’s railway calendar is the Manx Heritage Transport Festival, running from July 29 to August 2.
This bigger festival will also include the Groudle Glen Railway, Douglas Bay Horse Tramway, The Orchid Line at the Wildlife Park and the Great Laxey Mines Railway.
Author Christopher Vine and his Peter’s Railway will also be part of the festivities.
More details of what has been planned for the festival and how people can get involved will be announced closer to the time.
However, many of the major planned events such as the steam engine Caledonia visiting Knockaloe will be postponed to next year’s festival.
Anyone who had been booked on any of the planned events will be contacted by Isle of Man Transport. Next year’s event has been scheduled for July 28 to August 1.
