The Trefold Guild is to hold a lunch at the Park Hotel, Ramsey, on Thursday at noon.

Trefoil Guild is a branch of Girlguiding and its members agree to support the guiding ethos - including the pledge to help other people.

Women and men aged 18+ make new friends, travel, explore, serve their communities and help Guiding (and Scouting) thrive.

The Trefoil Guild was formed in 1943 by young women who were becoming too old to remain as Guides or Rangers but wished to keep their link with Guiding.

Its members celebrated 75 years of Trefoil Guild in 2018.

They took part in two challenges - ’The Trefoil Guild Birthday Challenge’ and our own ’Manx Challenge 2018’.

For the latter they challenged all members of Girlguiding from Rainbows to Trefoil Guild to get to know more about the island during 2018.

The chosen for this Trefoil Guild Birthday Year was Riding for the Disabled.

A group of members visited the Guilcagh stables, met some of the RDA team and observed a session with a group of children.

They say they were amazed by the dedication of the helpers and the achievements of the youngsters.

This inspired the guild to look for ways of raising funds for them.

Throughout the year they had collecting boxes for RDA at events and meetings and 10p from the sale of each Manx Challenge badge was donated to RDA.

In July, with help from Judith Ley, they staged a summer concert in Douglas with ’Stars from the Guild’. I

In August Shoh Slaynt had an evening session at the Sailors’ Shelter in Peel and donated the proceeds from their evening to our fundraising.

They supported the guild again for a concert at Sulby in October. T

The following day they held a coffee morning in Ramsey which further boosted the total.

They have raised £2,000. A donation of £400 from this amount will go towards The Trefoil Tea Room at RDA UK’s new National Training Centre, at

Lowlands Farm Warwickshire.

The remaining £1.600 will be donated to RDA (IOM).

On Thursday, as part of the lunch meeting, the guild will present the money to the RDA.
