A full season of events hosted by Rushen Heritage Trust gets off to a flying start on Monday, January 10.

The trust is hosting the second in its season of talks at Erin Arts Centre, as Allison Fox, curator of archaeology at Manx National Heritage, takes attendees ’Around the South in 30 Objects’.

Miss Fox will explore the history of the south of the island, as she presents a specially curated discussion of the familiar, and not so familiar, artefacts that have been discovered and the stories that they tell.

The talk starts at 7.30pm (doors 7pm), with tickets priced at £5 - or £4 if you have signed up as a Friend of RHT - and they are available from Erin Arts Centre, Bridge Bookshop and Erin News (all Port Erin) and Calvert Newsagents (Port St Mary).

They are also available online via Erin Arts Centre.

Erin Arts Centre is encouraging visitors to wear face masks and to use the hand sanitiser provided.

On the day of the event, they would also recommend doing a lateral flow test before attending.

The other talks in the trust’s season at Erin Arts Centre include:

-February 7 - Dave Martin: New Light on Mann - LiDAR and other digital archaeology on the Island

-March 7 - Angela Little: 150 years of the Education Act (1872)

-April 11 - Peter Kelly: A Postcard Tour of the Isle of Man

Tickets for each talk will go on sale once the preceding talk has been held.

Anyone who still has tickets from any of last season’s cancelled talks, are encouraged to get in touch the trust. It can either arrange a refund, or you can swap them for one of this season’s talks.
