Ian Hutchinson secured his 16th TT win in Wednesday morning’s RL 360 Quantum Superstock TT.

Hutchy’s second win of the week was his third Superstock victory in a row, the Bingley Bullet bringing home his Tyco BMW a comfortable 22.423 seconds ahead of Peter Hickman who landed his third rostrum place in as many days on the Smiths BMW.

Manxman Dan Kneen was a further 21.024s down on Hickman on his DTR powered by Penz 13 BMW, recording his quickest lap round the Mountain Course of 130.347mph on his way to securing an impressive first TT podium .

Fourth place at the conclusion of the four-lap race that was held in blustery conditions was Michael Rutter who was just ahead of Dean Harrison.

Supersport Race One winner Michael Dunlop rounded out the top six.

Hutchy said after the race he hadn’t known what to expect going into it: ’I’ve only done one lap of practice on this bike and I started with a compound of tyre that I’ve not used before. I also had problems with the bike’s electronics ahead of the race, the dashboard readout cutting out just before we started. I switched the bike on and off again and it eventually re-appeared as I engaged second gear as I pulled away from the start.

’I feel like I’m pinching wins at the moment - I know I can go a lot quicker.’

A delighted Kneen also had electronic problems to overcome after his pit stop at the end of lap two, admitting he switched his BMW on and off as he braked on his way into Ramsey on lap three.

Reflecting on his highest ever finish Kneen added: ’It’s awesome - I can’t really describe the feeling. It’s been years of trying to get here [the winners’ enclosure].’

Padgetts Honda duo Conor Cummins and Bruce Anstey were both early retirements at the end of lap one as was Gary Johnson.

James Hillier was also out early on pulling up at Ballacraine on the opening circuit.
