Michael Rutter won his fifth TT on Wednesday afternoon, 19 years after his first success on the Mountain Course.

The veteran campaigner brought home his Paton in a new race record, 8.818 seconds ahead of Martin Jessopp to take the spoils in the four-lap Bennetts Lightweight race.

The top two, who circulated for much of the race together on the road, were comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.

Peter Hickman, aboard the KMR Kawasaki, eventually came home third 40.495s behind Jessopp to secure his fourth podium in as many races this week.

The winner for the last two years, Ivan Lintin was next home in fourth with Dan Cooper fifth.

A flying last lap from Josh Brookes saw him pip Michael Dunlop to sixth spot.
