Manx National Heritage has put together a packed programme of events and activities at the island’s heritage sites this autumn.
A range of guided tours, family activities, workshops and trails are on offer.
From October 9 families are invited to the Manx Museum to an event featuring the ’Where’s Wally’ character.
Other activities include cross stitch, macramé, embroidery, decoupage and bunting workshops at Cregneash and a willow workshop at Rushen Abbey. Workshops are on until October 21.
Weekly tours of Castletown, The Peggy and Cregneash have also been extended into October.
In a break from tradition, the annual Cregneash ’Turn up for turnips’ event this year goes on tour around the heritage sites across the island.
Manx National Heritage’s Julia Cullen said: ’This year, families can join in the traditional Hop tu Naa celebrations by collecting a special Hop tu Naa kit from one of four locations across the island.
’The Hop tu Naa kit includes a turnip to carve, a Jinny the Witch activity and a Hop tu Naa booklet.’
Kits can be pre-ordered from manxnationalheritage.im and are available from The Grove Museum, Ramsey (on October 24-25), the Manx Museum (October 26-27), House of Manannan, (October 28-29) and Rushen Abbey (October 30-31).
’Tales from the Crypt’ takes place at Peel Castle on Saturday, October 31, with spooky tales of a witch, a giant and the infamous moddey dhoo.
