President of Tynwald Steve Rodan has attended Buckingham Palace to receive his OBE from Prince Charles.

He was accompanied by his wife Ana and daughters Lisa and Moira.

Glasgow-born Mr Rodan first came to the island in the 1980s, and soon immersed himself in Mann’s historic, cultural, charitable and political life.

A pharmacist in Laxey, he was a village commissioner there from 1991 until his election as MHK for Garff in 1995. He retained that seat in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 before his election as president and elevation to LegCo in 2016.

He is also county chairman of the Royal British Legion and has been honoured the OBE for his outstanding service and dedication to the Isle of Man.

Mr Rodan was one of four people in the island to be named in the Queen’s birthday honours list last year - the others being fund-raiser Tony Fox, Manx Aviation and Military Museum founder Ivor Ramsden and Tonia Lushington, head of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association.
