Thursday evening’s Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT qualifying session has been cancelled.

After Wednesday evening’s programme had been called off because of forecasted heavy showers, organisers had opted to utilise Thursday afternoon’s contingency session prior to the scheduled evening programme later in the day.

But the island was hit by some rain during the afternoon and, while the earlier qualifying was able to be completed, this has forced the cancellation of yet another evening session in what has been a hugely-disrupted meeting so far.

In a statement, organisers said: ‘The clerk of the course has confirmed that due to wet roads following earlier showers around the course, there will be no further action taking place today.’

Friday’s forecast predicts isolated showers in the morning, then becoming dry with sunny intervals heading into the afternoon.

At present, roads are due to close at 9.30am, ahead of action getting underway at 10.15am when the Historic Senior and Historic Junior machines take to the Mountain Course.

At 11.45am it’s the turn of the Lightweight, Ultra Lightweight, Junior MGP and Sportbike MGP classes, before the Formula One, Junior 600, Senior MGP and the Supersport MGP machines go out at 1.15pm.

Roads are scheduled to re-open no later than 4.30pm.
