Steam Packet sailings have been impacted by persistent fog near Heysham today (Sunday, December 19).
The 9:06am sailing from Douglas to Heysham was due to arrive into the English port at 12:50pm today.
However, 'due to the persistent dense fog the Ben-my-Chree has been unable to enter Heysham Port'.
The company stated: 'In addition, tidal restrictions has left the Master of the vessel no alternative but to return Douglas.'
The ferry is estimated to arrive back in Douglas at 5:30pm.
The Ben-my-Chree had departed as scheduled in the hope that conditions would have improved enough by midday to dock.
As a result, the Heysham to Douglas sailing scheduled to depart at 2:15pm this afternoon was cancelled.
It’s after the Ben-my-Chree was forced to turn back yesterday.
The warning is currently not in place for later sailings, but you can keep updated on the Steam Packet website.
