Linkin Park

One More Light

With a new single featuring Kiiara already having whet the appetite, the new album from Linkin Park has attracted plenty of attention in the first week of its issue.

One More Light is a decent album with plenty of high point to make it worthwhile dipping into your pocket, especially if the last 6 albums have been on your playlist.

And make no mistake, there are plenty out there who get exactly what Linkin Park are trying to achieve with this album.

They are the biggest band on Facebook by some way, attracting over 62 million followers, and the band like to give them something back for their loyalty - recently they delivered an exclusively performance for them online and managed to debut some of the new material.

Fans will not be disappointed when they hear One More Light, with songs to watch out for including Heavy, Invisible and the title track.

It may not have the punch of Hybrid Theory, the best selling debut of all time, but thereare more than a few tracks on One More Light to ensure Linkin Park are amongst the rock legends of today.

Stax 60

Iconic soul label Stax is marking its 60th anniversary by relaunching some of the classic tracks it’s been behind.

The value-for-money collection sees a CD dedicated to single artists, with 12 essential tracks from their catalogue being accompanied by brand new sleeve notes.

The first four artists to get the Stax 60 treatment are Otis Reading, Carla Thomasand Booker T. & The M.G’s.

The pick of these has to be the Otis Reading album. The R&B supernova helped to transform Stax from a small record label into a musical institution and the choice of his songs on the album include Try A Little Tenderness, (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay and Respect, which was later immortalised by Aretha Franklin.

In the 15 years Stax was operating, it released more than 800 singles and nearly 300 albums. It’s a nice way of dipping into the world of soul legends.
