A music showcase night of some of the island’s best and brightest indie groups will now take place later in the year.

The ’Voodoo Bandits Indie Sandwich’ night will now take place on Saturday, May 1st, in the Promenade Suite at the Villa Marina.

The evening will be led by the leading local indie surf rock group the Voodoo Bandits and feature a supporting line up of fellow Manx groups, including the indie punk group, The Scrubs.

The concert was due to take place towards the end of February, but with the-then uncertainty over how long the lockdown would take, together with the lack of adequate rehearsal time, the band decided to push the event back.

’Due to lockdown we weren’t able to get a bunch of stuff done that we had planned for the gig in time so we thought it would be best to push it back to give us a chance to get things in order,’ said bassist Charlotte Wilby.

’Plus we held back on announcing supports and doing certain promo stuff as we weren’t sure in the end when lockdown was going to end up until last week so we were a little behind schedule.’

The rest of the line-up will be released in the turn up to the night.

Tickets are £5, available from the Villa Gaiety box office, on 600555, and online from villagaity.com
