A charity for the blind is holding a number of events for its fourth Vision Awareness Week.
The Manx Blind Welfare Society’s publicity drive takes place from September 11.
The charity is joining forces with the Royal National Institute for the Blind, Macular Society and the Government to host this week.
This year’s theme is to focus on the impact that smoking has on your eyes.
Throughout the week the charity members will be talking to some schools and clubs about our theme and they are asking any organisation that would like more information or host an event to get in contact.
On Friday, September 15, it will stage its ’Bright for Sight’ event.
It is inviting organisations to encourage staff to can dress brightly or make bright cakes to sell to their colleagues.
The MBWS hopes to see photos from such events posted on its Facebook page and that those organisations can help to raise money for the charity.
From 10.30am to noon the charity is holding a ’Bright for Sight’ coffee morning at its headquarters, Corrin Court, Heywood Avenue, Onchan.
Tickets are £2 and you can pay on the door.
On Friday evening at 7pm there will be a a’Bright for Sight’ Zumba session at MBWS, with a suggested donation of £5 to take part.
The last event, ’Step out for Sight’, will take place on Sunday, September 17.
This is a walk along Douglas promenade starting at the jubilee kiosk.
Registration is from 2.30pm and the walk starts at 3pm.
The charity will supply blindfolds so people taking part who will experience walking in the steps of a blind person.
It is also giving out badges to any groups who participate.
