The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping and gales.

It will be in place from 8am today (Friday) until midday on Saturday.

It says: ‘All island for minor wind damage. Shore Road, Bayr ny Carrickey and Castletown Promenade for both high tides; northern end of Douglas Promenade and Laxey around Friday lunchtime.’

Today’s forecast: ‘Rain at first this morning will clear around the start of the working day, leaving an often bright day with only occasional blustery showers.

‘Gale force south-southwest winds with gusts of 55-60 mph will turn southwest and ease a little this afternoon but increase to severe gale force tonight with gusts of 65 mph, then turn westerly later in the night. Temperatures 8 Celsius.’
