Airport chiefs have issued a warning for passengers there may be delays in the next week at security.
The warning comes as new security equipment is being installed to improve security times during peak periods.
A Department of Infrastructure spokesman said: ’A temporary x-ray line will be in operation at the Isle of Man Airport for the next week while equipment designed to improve the flow of passengers through security is installed.
’The installation process will take approximately seven days with the temporary line operational from Friday, October 19 until Friday, October 26.
’Passengers are warned there may be some delays to the security procedure during this time and are encouraged to arrive in plenty of time.’
Once one of the new machines is up and running, security staff will begin training and familiarising themselves with the new equipment
After this period, it is expected that two lines of security will be staffed each day.
It has also been confirmed that in trials in recent weeks which have seen two lines in operation during peak times have been labelled ’successful’.
Pictures show the new equipment includes a new x-ray machine and the previously announced automated tray return machine.
The spokesman added: ’While the work takes place, the following advice has been issued to help the process run smoothly and reduce the time spent at security.
’Passengers are encouraged to carefully pack bags at home and carry only essential items in hand luggage, with liquids and gels placed in the clear sealable bag.’
