The Manx Dyslexia Association is appealing for more people to help it to survive.

A spokesman for the charity said: ’There is a real need for more people to become involved.

’Anyone with an interest in dyslexia would be very welcome and if you have particular skills in website maintenance, the team would be most grateful.

’We have recently had to have the very difficult discussion about winding up the charity due to the lack of support.’

The charity would like anyone who could help to leave a message on its Facebook page: Manx Dyslexia Association Official.

Last week the MDA arranged and sponsored the visit of Dr Gavin Reid.

He is an internationally renowned educational psychologist who trained more than 150 teachers and to 60 parents.

He also carried out assessments while he was on the island.

The MDA provides information and support through a variety of activities, including workshops (open to parents and children), speakers and the purchase of dyslexia-friendly, Barrington Stokes books for school libraries.

Dyslexia Awareness Week takes place next week.
