The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wintry showers and ice.

The forecast:

Mainly dry with variable and at times large amounts of cloud. Small risk of the odd wintry shower in the south and west to start. Cloud thickening this evening with outbreaks of rain overnight. Moderate northwest wind backing southwest and easing later, top temperature 7°C.

Into tomorrow, cloudy with a few outbreaks of rain to start, then becoming mainly dry with some brightness possible. Fresh to strong west or southwest wind and feeling less cold with a highest temperature of 10°C.

Some rain overnight into Friday with this clearing as it becomes mainly dry with some bright or sunny spells developing. Colder again with a small risk of isolated wintry showers. Moderate to fresh north or northwest wind.
