Wintry showers will affect the island this afternoon and tonight, before gradually becoming more isolated during Wednesday, weather forecasters at Ronaldsway have said.

The showers will fall as hail or sleet at low levels giving temporary and slushy accumulations, but as hail, sleet or wet snow over the hills giving some slight accumulations, mainly above 800 feet.

The MET office added: ’These conditions will make driving difficult at times with road surfaces becoming slippery after any showers.

’There is also a risk of ice forming where any frozen deposits take time to melt away, or where road surface temperatures fall below freezing, with higher roads most at risk.’
