The forecast from the Met Office:
Heavy rain will clear the island towards dawn this morning, as the gale force winds quickly turns to the southwest and eases fresh to strong. Thereafter the rest of the day will be bright with some sunny spells and scattered showers. Top temperature around 8°C.
The showers will die away later this afternoon, leaving the evening dry with clear spells, before it turns cloudy with rain arriving overnight into Friday, as the wind turns to the south and increases strong to gale force once more. Minimum temperature near to 5°C.
Rain will continue to affect the island through much of tomorrow, with some heavier bursts likely at times. Very windy with a strong to gale force southerly wind giving gusts of 50-55 mph in places. Highest temperature around 10°C. The rain will clear during the evening leaving occasional showers overnight.
Mostly dry at first on Saturday but cloudy, with further spells of rain arriving during the afternoon and continuing into the evening. Temperatures reaching up to 10°C at best in the strong south to southwest wind.
