The Curraghs Wildlife Park is to join zoos across the world tomorrow (Saturday) in celebrating International Red Panda Day.
It will be an opportunity to learn about this species from expert keepers, and watch the park’s three red pandas, Sara, Kush and Frisco.
The day - from 10am - will also see themed crafts, a treasure hunt and red panda competitions - all raising money to help the animals in the wild, where they are classed as endangered.
The annual day is the idea of the Red Panda Network - who the park supports through its conservation fund.
This year the Curraghs team is attempting to raise £1,200 to help protect red pandas and their unique habitat, which is shared with dozens of other endangered species and with the hard-working, agricultural farmers in the Himalayan mountain forests.
The red panda population has declined by 50% over the last 20 years and there may be as few as 2,500 remaining in the wild, so the conservation work of zoos has never been more important to their survival.
The Curraghs Wildlife Park is in Ballaugh.
