The island’s ranking in a worldwide league of average broadband speeds has slipped - although our broadband is getting faster.
We’ve dropped from 50th to 62nd out of 200 countries in the broadband speed league.
Data compiled for cable.co.uk is based on more than 163 million speed tests.
The top of the table is dominated by Europe, with 36 of the top countries being on the Continent.
In 2017, the island was ranked 50th with a mean download speed of 9.01 megabits per second.
But in 2018, we’ve slipped down to 62nd place, although the average download speed has risen to 10.54 Mbps.
The time to download a typical HD movie is one hour, four minutes and 46 seconds, up from an hour and 53 minutes last year.
Cable.co.uk’s research shows that the UK, too, had slipped down the worldwide ranks. Last year it was placed31st in the world. This year it’s 35th.
Mean download speed in the UK is faster than the Isle of Man at 18.57 Mbps (16.51 in 2017) and the average time to download a typical HD movie is much quicker at 36 minutes and 46 seconds.
Jersey came out 10th in the ranking, up four places on last year, with an average download speed of 30.9 Mbps and a time of 22 minutes and six seconds to download a typical HD movie.
Guernsey was placed 54th, down two places on 2017, with a mean download speed of 11.58 Mbps and just under an hour to download a typical HD movie.
Topping the worldwide league is Singapore with 60 Mbps, followed by Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle has pledged to increase broadband speeds across the island, with a national minimum speed of 30 megabits per second proposed.
