Supporters of the Curraghs Wildlife Park are asking animal lovers to help fund some novel equipment for the park’s animals.
From a paddling pool with balls and a broom base scratching post to entertain the lynx sisters, to special feeders to puzzle the gibbons and webbing for laid back lemur hammocks, supporters need funds for materials such as timber, chains, bamboo and plastic tubing.
Kim Etherton, the chairman of the supporters, said: ’It is well known in zoo circles that animals watch what their human visitors are up to so our animals are really missing everyone while the Wildlife Park is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
’Your donations will be used to buy or make a variety of novel ways to keep the animals occupied during this time - and you can look forward to some very entertaining posts as they explore their new "toys".’
To donate, email [email protected] for bank transfer details or to send a cheque or go to facebook@SCWPIOM.
Kathleen Graham, the wildlife park’s general manager, said: ’Our keepers are flat out maintaining our enclosures and keeping the animals healthy and well fed so we would really welcome this help. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before visitors can watch our animals enjoying their special treats.’
