The Met Office forecast for Thursday: ‘Bright at first today but quickly turning cloudy with outbreaks of rain developing from mid-morning, but with some drier interludes possible later this afternoon with temperatures reaching up to 11 or possibly 12°C at best.

‘A very windy and gusty day with the southwest wind becoming strong to gale force, with gusts of 45-50 mph quite widely across the island, but up to 55 mph in more exposed spots and across the north of the island.’
