Emergency services are dealing with a major incident at Bradda Head in Port Erin.
It is understood that a light aircraft has crashed, although this has not been confirmed by the police.
Witnesses reported hearing a bang and seeing black smoke.
A fisherman said that he saw a plane flying low over the bay just before the incident.
The police, fire and rescue services, ambulance, coastguard and lifeboat were called out as well as a rescue helicopter.
