Following the closure of Peel City WI at the end of 2016, former members got together to start a new organisation, ’Fenella’s Friendship Group’.

The group aims to provide a friendly environment for women to meet once a month for a chat and a cuppa, be entertained by interesting speakers and enjoy ctivities such as visits to the theatre and cinema, bowling, walking, crafts, group lunches, and anything else that takes their fancy.

Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of the month at 10am in the Guild Room, Atholl Street, Peel.

Membership is open to all women aged from 16 onwards.

One of the aims of FFG is to help raise funds for charities by hosting an annual coffee morning, which this year will be held on Friday, May 18, from 10am to 11.45am, at the Centenary Centre, Peel.

Entrance will be £1 to include coffee/tea and biscuits, and there will be a raffle and home-made cake stall.

As it’s the day before the Royal Wedding, FFG members will be wearing posh hats, and it is hoped that visitors will do likewise.

The guest charity is ’Bridge the Gap’, which aims to provide facilities and support for teenagers and young adults with long term medical needs.
