Traffic will be temporarily reduced to one lane around the Spring Valley roundabout on the outskirts of Douglas as the Department of Infrastructure carries out repairs to it.

A statement from the DoI announcing the work, which starts on Wednesday morning, said: ’As a result of a recent road traffic collision the structure of the roundabout was damaged.

’The Department intends to remove damaged and dislodged stone sets and then rebuild the face of the roundabout.

’Work will commence after the main commuter period, at 9.30am tomorrow (Wednesday, September 15) and run on until 3.30pm at the latest.

’Until the damaged section is taken apart it is unclear exactly how much work will be required to reconstruct the damaged section. Provision is in place to return to site on Thursday (again between 9.30am and 3.30pm) if necessary.

’The junction will remain open throughout the works, but with a reduction to one lane of traffic around the roundabout.’
