Residents in Port St Mary are being scrutinised as never before since a Christmas elf - or Trollag Nollick - suddenly appeared.

He popped up at the entrance to the port on December 1, smiling benignly from the school wall. since then, he has moved -as if by magic - to different locations such as the Underway and Patchwork cafe.

This festive elf began in 2005 in the US in a book about a ’scout’ elf sent by Santa to check children’s behaviour.

In Port St Mary adults are also watched and ’Trollag Nollick’ notes people’s behaviour such as over indulgence on cakes or compulsive joke telling on his Facebook page.

Who’s behind Santa’s spy is known only by a select few. Whoever it is, they’re very elfish.
