The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow between 7pm this evening and 10am Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are expected to fall below zero later this evening and overnight, mainly in areas above 1,000 ft. This is likely to lead to ice on untreated surfaces.

An additional hazard may be showers that will fall as snow above 500 ft and as sleet or hail to lower levels bringing the risk of slight accumulations over higher ground, whereas only temporary accumulations in low-lying areas.

The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed that gritters will be out this evening and that the planned closure of the Millennium Bridge over Douglas harbour will not go ahead tonight.
