A well-loved pub in the north of the island is to reopen shortly following a change in ownership.

The Grosvenor Country Inn in Andreas, which is the only bar and restaurant in the village, has been temporarily closed by its current tenants ahead of the new owners moving in.

Tenants ’Pete and Gabby’ wrote on the pub’s Facebook Page: ’Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Grosvenor is now closed. It is now under new management.

’We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for their patronage over the last few years.’

Victoria Hind, who previously worked at the pub, will run the business once the current tenancy is up in November.

She told the Manx Independent that her father acquired the building - owned by Heron and Brearley - earlier this year.

She will manage the pub with her husband Darren alongside raising their two children Finlay, aged five, and Halle, aged two.

The family will operate the Grosvenor Country Inn as a free house - a pub that can freely serve any beer of choice as it is not owned by a brewery.

She said it is a ’dream come true’ to have the opportunity to manage a pub like Grosvenor Country Inn.

’We’re really excited and look forward to it,’ she said.

’I have been in hospitality and catering industry since I was 14.

’I’m so passionate about it and our hearts are 100% into this.’ The family plans to renovate parts of the pub, but does not want to change it ’too much’. Mrs Hind said: ’We like it as a country pub. Not many pubs in the island have that rustic, country feel. Everything is very modern now.’ Some changes they’re looking to make include having garden areas that are more child-friendly and renovating the toilets.

They will be looking to run more events for people to ’use the pub as a community base’ and make more use of the pub’s function room.

She said the village often holds events for charitable causes and would like to support this.

They are currently in talks with the current chef to keep them on.

’We will try to make it the best pub in the island,’ Mrs Hind added.

The opening date is yet to be revealed.
