The Family Library celebrated the end of its ocean-themed summer reading scheme with a fancy dress awards ceremony.

The splashtastic event took place on Saturday and saw youngsters dress as a range of sea creatures and even transport before stepping out on the blue carpet to collect their Octo Oscars.

There was also a range of ocean-themed games and activities and refreshments for families to enjoy at the library, off Westmoreland Road, Douglas.

Family Library managing director Laura Jones said: ’Our reading scheme this year was "Oceans Adventure" - kindly sponsored for the third year by PWC.

’Apart from the challenge of reading six books in six weeks they had visits from live lobsters, the RNLI, Isle of Man Coastguard and Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch to name but a few.

’The library became a scene from above and below the ocean - with beautiful and inspired art and craft work produced by the children and their families.’

Laura congratulated everyone who took part in the Octo Oscars. Imogen and Teigan Cowell were the joint winners of the Octo Oscars fancy dress prize with their octopus-themed outfits made using umbrellas.
