Youngsters will be challenged to make front page news at Isle of Man Newspapers’ stand at this year’s Royal Show.

Budding journalists are invited along to Isle of Man Newspapers’ stand at the show, at Knockaloe, on Saturday (August 10).

Staff from the editorial team will be on hand to guide the next generation of reporters through a series of fun activities, from hunting down the best story to a race to get an article on the front page.

Youngsters will also be invited to pit their speed writing skills against a reporter’s shorthand.

It follows on from our Junior Reporter Academy at last year’s Royal Show, which saw youngsters earn a ’press pass’ after learning some key reporting skills.

Isle of Man Newspapers editor Richard Butt said: ’We look forward to again welcoming visitors to our stand at the Royal Show.

’Youngsters who are interested in journalism will enjoy the chance to play some games that have been inspired by what goes on in the newsroom.’

It’s free to play the games but donations to the Isle of Man Beekeepers’ Federation are welcome.

Richard said: ’If you have any news that you want our readers to know about, or have any questions on how to subscribe to our digital editions, please come and pay our stand a visit.’

We are at stand 109 in Avenue C, opposite the floral art and Women’s Institute stands.
