There’s a decent entry for the back-to-back rounds of the ACU Wessex Plant Hire-sponsored British Sidecar Trials Championship organised by Peveril MCC this weekend.

Both events are based at Knock Froy, Santon - starting at 10am - each consisting of 36 sections.

The Andy Smith Trial on Saturday will start and end with sections at the club’s HQ (five in the morning and eight at the end of the day), but also includes Ellerslie depot (four subs from 10.50am), Old Stoney Mountain quarry (five from 11.30), South Barrule quarry (five from 12.15pm), Cringle quarry (four from 1pm), South Barrule plantation (five from 1.40) and Knock Froy (eight from 2.20).

The David Craine Trophy event on Sunday is again book-ended by groups at Knock Froy (five and five), with additional sections at Rushen Abbey banks (three subs from 10.45), Billown glen (five from 11.10), Pooil Vaaish (six from 11.45), Scarlett farm (six from 12.30), Scarlett (six from 1.05) and Knock Froy (five from 2pm).

Round one winner Jon Tuck is without his regular sidekick, Matt Sparkes, but has Izzy Saunders (daughter of multiple British solo champion Steve) deputising on the TRRS 300.

Reigning champions Josh and Luke Golding may well start as favourites, while the only local crew contesting the championship class is William Caine and Sam Baxter.

Jack Corlett and Beth Thomas will be hoping to extend their early lead in the Intermediate class where there only three named starters.

Clubman has the largest field of eight outfits, including three locals).

A total of 16 crews are entered.

l A twinshock, pre-65 and modern solo class will run at the front of the field both days.All welcome, enter on the day for the solos from 9am.
