Manx Harriers is promoting a 5km race walk event on the TT Access Road this evening (Thursday).
Sign on from 5.30pm at the clubhouse, with a start time of 6pm.
Walkers of all abilities will be welcome to join in and record a time for the distance. There will also be shorter distances for junior walkers (age group dependant).
The entry fee is £3 to cover permit and levy costs.
The club intends to donate any surplus cash to the Race Walking Association’s president’s appeal, which goes toward the promotion and coaching development of walking.
l The Callin Wild Manx Fell Running League continues with a new race to the calendar next Wednesday, May 22.
The Slieau Ruy event will be based at Glen Helen and cover an interesting 8.6km route taking in three checkpoints including the summits of the Beary and Slieau Ruy.
Register between 6pm and 6.45pm at Glen Helen car park for a 7pm start. Senior runners must produce full safety gear for inspection. If the weather is favourable the amount of safety gear to be carried may be relaxed. This will be decided at registration.
The third counter in the Junior Fell League will run concurrently on a shorter 4km course. Juniors may be required to carry a jacket and whistle if the conditions are poor. Whistles will be provided. Route description and map available at manxfellrunners.org
Parking is limited at Glen Helen, exacerbated by current building work. Car sharing is therefore advised. Please do not park on the main road (TT Course).
l Northern AC’s Park Run series continues this Friday evening over the Mooragh course in Ramsey.
Sign on from 6pm for a 7pm start - usual youth and adult classes. Further rounds take place on June 14, July 12 and July 26 (all Fridays).
Round three of Western AC’s Dave Phillips headlands/prom league is on Friday week, May 24.
