With the leagues decided, attention turns to Manx Hockey’s blue ribbon event in the MHA Finals Day where all four men’s and women’s finals are contested on Saturday.

With the spectators expecting a great day’s hockey, there will be excitement aplenty during the mouth-watering ties on offer.

First up sees one of either Valkyrs B take on Bacchas B in the Women’s Plate. Bacchas battled their way past Saracens A in the semis and have shown good courage to make it to the final.

Valkyrs, however, finished a strong second place in the league.

When the dust settles on the Plate Final, the spectators will be immediately treated to a wondrously mouth-watering fixture between PwC Women’s Premier League winners Valkyrs A versus the runners-up Vikings A.

Although Valkyrs took home the championship title, it was only by one strike on goal difference and this raises the prospect of this game being one to savour and going down to the wire.

Both Valkyrs and Vikings have treated us to some fantastic and determined performances this year and the cup final will be no different. Finger nails will be bitten, nerves will get the better of some but most of all the spectators are in for a treat.

Just in case anyone is wondering if they can possibly take any more, the Men’s Cup Final then gets underway with Vikings A taking on Bacchas A.

On paper, the latter side are overwhelming favourites having beaten Vikings twice this year, scoring a total of 12 goals and only conceding one in the two games. But Vikings A have always been a good cup team and seem capable of anything on finals day.

It wasn’t that long ago we saw Jamie Brown prove to be the hero for Bacchas with a last-minute winner. Could this be another drubbing for Vikings, or the close game that everyone wants to see?

Finally, as if their wait hasn’t been long enough, Saracens A take on Valkyrs B in the Men’s Plate Final.

Valkyrs managed to pinch second place in the league from right under the noses of Harlequins and have been a strong plate team so far this year.

Despite losing out twice to Saracens A in the league, they won’t be underdogs by any stretch of the imagination.

Saracens will be desperate to complete a league and cup double before they entertain the Premier League crowds next year.
