The shortest race in the Callin Wild Fell League take place tomorrow evening (Wednesday) close to Injebreck reservoir.

The start time for the 4km lung-buster to the summit of Carraghan and back is 7pm.

The start and finish will be near the main gate into Injebreck plantation.

Registration will be from 6pm at Colden car park. Minimum age is 12 years on race day.

Safety gear is not compulsory if the weather is favourable, but in the case of inclement or misty conditions a waterproof jacket and whistle will be compulsory for everyone.

All juniors and newcomers are advised to carry this gear whatever the conditions.

The race will be a counter in both the junior and senior leagues.

Car parking could well be a problem as there are only limited spaces available. Parking will be marshalled, so please follow their directions. The committee strongly suggests car sharing where possible. Please park sensibly.

The Sweeney Todd-sponsored Dave Phillips running series gets underway in Peel this Friday evening.

Each race will be on the regular promenade/headlands course for juniors, seniors and veterans, a choice of one or two laps (two or four miles), with under and over nines restricted to the prom, setting off at 7 o’clock.

The senior/adult races will be scratch in the first instance, thereafter handicapped.

Signing-on will be at Peel Sailing Club from 6.15pm. £5 entry (£7 unattached). All school/college students £2.

The following two rounds will be on July 10 and 21. The latter will be followed by a presentation and supper in the Sailing Club.
