Island swimmer Charlotte Atkinson claimed a fifth place in the European Short Course Championships in Denmark over the weekend.

The reigning Isle of Man Sportswoman of the Year was representing Great Britain at the annual championships and qualified as the only British swummer in the 200m butterfly in Copenhagen, reaching the final after winning her heat with a time of 2:05.93.

Aktinson swam well in the final and claimed fifth, just under two seconds off a place on the podium with her time of 2:06.19.
