After last weekend’s surprise result, Vikings A take on the seemingly unstoppable Bacchas A in the Mixed Premier Division this Saturday.
Bacchas have been in free-scoring form so far this season, but Vikings, on the other hand, have struggled in front of goal and, up until last weekend, managed to grind out results that otherwise might have gone against them.
The All Blacks will be looking at this game with a sense of trepidation, but it does provide an immediate opportunity for the team to immediately respond to last week’s shock defeat to Castletown.
Bacchas on the other hand have been terrifyingly good since the second week of the season, winning all their games and scoring 36 goals in the process to lead the top flight by a point from Vikings.
Last year Vikings managed to beat Bacchas A on goal difference, but unless Vikings can beat Bacchas on points it doesn’t look likely they will score more than Bacchas this year.
Elsewhere in the Mixed Premier League, Vikings B take on Valkyrs A with both sides looking fairly evenly balanced and looking like they can come away with the win.
Meanwhile, Steven Ronan will be hoping last week’s heroics from his Castletown side won’t affect them when they take on Ramsey A in a game that presents them with another opportunity to get more points on the board.
Town now know that they can beat the very best and will be using that as inspiration this weekend.
In Mixed Division One, Saracens Sabres will lead in the league on points if they beat title rivals Bacchas B.
Given Saracens’ free scoring form they are the favourites, but Bacchas B have plenty of experience and are equally capable of taking both points on offer.
Elsewhere Ramsey Ravens travel to Peel to take on a vastly-experienced Valkyrs B side that is still keeping up with the top two, while Bacchas C and Harlequins A will be a close match at the NSC.
Saracens Colts have dominated Mixed Division Two so far this year and are currently four points ahead of their nearest challengers.
They can expect a tough game against Bacchas Colts but on current form should have the strength to come out on top against the Douglas-based side.
Vikings C and Harlequins Colts face off at King William’s College with the former being the slight favourites, while Cammags will look to move away from the relegation zone when they take on Harlequins Colts.
The title favourites in the shape of Vikings D will be looking to extend their advantage over their nearest rivals Castletown Southerners in Mixed Division Three.
The Vikings Colts team will be hoping their youthful side can overcome the experienced Bacchas D team.
Valkyrs D welcome Harlequins B to Peel while the final game of the weekend sees Ramsey Rookies and Saracens Sharks go head to head at the Grammar School.
