The third match for Selborne C was home to Sulby A, which opened up with close games between Selborne’s Carol Kelly/Sue Richardson and Sulby’s Beth Nicol/Katie Strickett. The Selborne pair took the advantage here with scores of 21/16 21/15.

In the next set involving Natalie Bennett/Maia Xiao and Aalin Penketh/Heather Kennett, Sulby won their first and what turned out to be their only game of the evening 21/20, before losing the second 11/21 to trail Selborne by 20 points after four games.

Sulby were unable to win another game all evening, with Selborne simply proving too strong for the northern side. However, Sulby’s Strickett/Kennett fought hard against Richardson/Xiao, but lost 15/21 16/21, which proved to be the third closest set all evening.

Well done to Selborne C for a deserved win, which puts them firmly at the top of the division with three wins and no defeats at the halfway stage.

Congratulations to Aalin Penketh and Natalie Bennett who were nominated players of the match. [TG]
