A good entry of 28 outfits has entered rounds two and three of the 2017 ACU Wessex Plant Hire (Bristol)-sponsored British Sidecar Trials Championship this weekend.

Hosted yet again by Peveril MCC, the Andy Smith Trophy event will consist of a short tour of the north of the island, centred on Sulby Claddaghs, while Sunday’s David Craine Trophy event starts and finishes from the club HQ at Knock Froy, Santon.

Both days start at 10am (with a solo twinshock support class), followed by the chairs at 10.30 in one-minute intervals.

Defending champions Nigel Crellin and Chris Molyneux, who have already made a winning start to their second defence of the title they first won in 2015, have to start as favourites on home soil, but they will be pushed hard by the Golding brothers, John Tuck/Matt Sparkes and the Kimber son and father team.

William Caine and Beth Thomas will be favourites in the intermediate class.
